London really pulls out all of the stops when it comes to all things festive. And that's especially true when it comes to Christmas markets and pop-ups dotted around the capital. Beyond the country's biggest and most popular events (ahem, Winter Wonderland) there are smaller gems that shouldn't be missed too – from wreath-making workshops to local designer fares and festive food markets open for a limited time only.

Covent Garden Christmas market

There's something magical about Covent Garden come Christmas, the cobbled street and Piazza are fully kitted out with giant festive installations, a Santa sleigh and plenty of stalls selling mulled wine and a Christmas Sandwich Festival, stretching from the Market Building all the way up to Seven Dials. The historic central London spot will switch on its Christmas decorations on November 12th, which is an event not to be missed in and of itself, with the market returning in full swing from then onwards.

The Interiors Boot Sale

We are delighted to hear that The Interiors Boot Sale Christmas market will be returning this year. Last year's edition took place at Primrose Hill’s St Mark’s Church, with interiors insiders coming together for a day of the best brocante you can imagine. Half the buyer entrance fee on the day goes to the Whitechapel Mission homeless charity, so you can bank good karma even as you browse the best the drawers, attics, cellars and cupboards of NW1 have to offer. It’s one not to be missed.

Southbank Winter Festival

Few locations can rival the appeal of London’s winter festival which is set along the Thames – it's been one of the best Christmas markets in London for years. Once the sun sets, the lights from the market’s many Alpine chalets add to the lights on London’s buildings against an inky winter sky and it is truly magical. As always, there is gluhwein galore, hot apple cider and covered fire pits to warm up with after a spot of shopping – whether for yourself or others.
