Ten years after the first Burberry Christmas tree at Claridge’s – an abstract sculpture made from over a 100 metallic umbrellas – was unveiled, Daniel Lee, the brand’s creative director since 2022, revisits the iconic hotel to lend a little more of the label's festive aesthetic. This year, Daniel has taken a more traditional approach. The result? A very British celebration of craft that is as uplifting as it is planet-positive.

Festooned with bows made from surplus Burberry fabrics, the vibrant 16-foot-tall tree draws inspiration from the colours of the UK’s bucolic landscapes with wild foliage decorations lending depth and wonder in equal measure. ‘Christmas is my favourite time of the year,’ says Daniel. ‘Being invited to design the hotel’s annual Christmas tree is a huge honour. I saw it as an opportunity to celebrate tradition and togetherness – expressing the season through vibrant colours and rich textures.’ It is also a perfectly jolly way for the brand to cap a fantastic 2025 which saw it return to the FTSE 100, the London Stock Exchange’s index of the most valued brands (by share price), after a year’s gap.
From brass bells inspired by the brand’s Equestrian Knight design, to thistle, the national flower of Scotland that tips its hat to the Highlands where Burberry produces its famous cashmere scarves, the 2025 Claridge’s Christmas tree is brimming with fun, artfully imagined homages to the house. Purple cushions, a gold crown tree topper and oversized chess pieces – scattered around the hotel’s legendary black and white checkerboard floor – lend a regal air.

Beyond the Christmas tree, Burberry details can be spotted throughout the hotel during the holidays: Guests can enjoy Winter Knight, a specially crafted cocktail at the Claridge’s Bar, doormen are kitted out in the brand’s unmistakable check scarves, and the beloved motif also appears on room key holders as well as the elevator, which has been reimagined as an intimate escape. Plus, there’s a pop-up to explore (and shop) Burberry’s latest designs.
Want to take the magic home? A limited edition hand-painted bauble featuring Claridge’s Bell Boy Teddy Bear dressed in Burberry is available at the Claridge’s Shop – only 300 pieces exist.
To celebrate the unveiling of Daniel’s stupendous creation (the designer was at the hotel well past midnight, putting finishing touches to the tree before its grand reveal on 25th November), friends of Burberry including Richard E Grant, Celia Imrie, Jennifer Saunders, Joan Collins, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Ncuti Gatwa came together for a boisterous party. They were treated to a rousing yuletide reading by Olivia Colman and a performance by the London Community Gospel Choir.
Staged in the lobby, the Burberry Christmas Tree at Claridge’s will be on display until 4th January, 2026.
